ABOUT JELLINS LAW
Daniel Jellins is a Washington, DC–based privacy, regulatory, and consumer protection attorney who works directly with small to medium sized businesses and nonprofits navigating the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence and data governance. His practice is grounded in the belief that organizations can innovate responsibly — without being overwhelmed by complex regulatory frameworks.
Daniel’s experience spans both high-level policy engagement and practical business counseling. At Relman Colfax, he advised major financial and housing institutions on navigating civil rights and regulatory compliance obligations. He also worked on product design initiatives that balanced regulatory requirements with operational and business realities — ensuring compliance did not come at the expense of functionality.
Previously, as a Staff Attorney and Clinical Teaching Fellow at Georgetown Law Center’s Communications and Technology Law Clinic, Daniel examined the impact of advertising algorithms and advocated for children’s safety and disability rights before federal agencies including the FTC and FCC. During this time, he testified before the DC City Council, wrote for The Washington Post, and helped prepare testimony before the United States Congress.
Today, through Jellins Law PLLC, Daniel provides focused, personalized legal guidance to nonprofits and growing organizations. Clients work directly with him at every stage — receiving clear explanations, strategic insight, and counsel tailored to their specific mission, structure, and risk profile.

Privacy Review & Compliance Strategy
Collecting customer, donor, or client data — especially for use in AI tools — requires thoughtful compliance planning. Jellins Law reviews your current data collection, processing, and storage practices to ensure they align with laws such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, and other applicable privacy regulations.
You’ll receive a clear assessment of potential risks, straightforward recommendations to strengthen your privacy posture, and guidance on building privacy-by-design into new initiatives. The goal is simple: protect your organization while supporting innovation.
Data Protection Agreements & Partnership Support
Vendor contracts and data-sharing agreements can create unexpected legal exposure if not carefully reviewed. Jellins Law provides thorough review and negotiation of Data Protection Agreements (DPAs) and related contracts to ensure they reflect your operational reality and risk tolerance.
Daniel works directly with you to review existing agreements, strengthen contract language, and think strategically about how your organization partners with third parties. When regulatory proposals arise, Jellins Law can also assist with drafting comments or engaging with agencies to help you stay ahead of changes.
AI Risk Assessments & Responsible Innovation
Artificial intelligence offers powerful opportunities — but it also raises important compliance and accountability questions. Jellins Law conducts AI Risk Assessments and Algorithmic Impact Assessments to identify potential legal or reputational risks before AI systems are deployed.
You’ll receive practical guidance on fairness, transparency, and accountability — particularly in high-impact areas such as hiring, financial services, healthcare, and youth-focused programs. With direct access to your attorney throughout the process, you gain both regulatory clarity and confidence in your technology strategy.
